MSI Tech. Tips: Water Defense Control System-Saudi Aramco Duplex PFT |
All jet fuel handling systems that employ filter/separators must be equipped with some form of water defense. Traditional water defense is provided by means of a water slug valve which is a hydraulically- operated control valve installed in the filter/separator discharge line. The valve is normally open but closes upon receipt of a hydraulic "signal" from a float pilot installed in the filter vessel sump. Electronic water defense systems consist of a probe or float switch installed in the filter sump which are wired to an intrinsically-safe relay that can provide both control and alarm outputs. MSI's Water Defense Control System is designed to both disable the pump as well as illuminate a "Water-in-Fuel" alarm pilot light. MSI's Water Defense Controller is furnished in a NEMA 7 explosion-proof en-closure. Intrinsically-safe Deadman Control is one of several options that can be added to MSI's basic Water Defense Control System. The photo above shows a typical Water Defense System installed on a Duplex PFT Module delivered to Saudi Aramco last month. Contact us for more details.
